Great idea! Let's also ban pop and fried foods and meat and ice cream and candy and cake.
Wait... why stop at consumables? Let's ban books and music too! I never did like history very much... let's ban history!
No, the world won't be a better place. People will find vices, and if all you do is ban every vice that comes up... well, life will be pretty bland in a couple generations.

it was not a simple question it suggested control over other people ,under a greater authority.
this is not Democratic ,
in Holland every body is allowed everything ,but people do very little because their morality comes from with in
i don't drink ,but i know that if you ban drink it becomes a problem including corruption .
even to suggest a banning of anything .cannot be simple question any more it is a concept that ell a big story
the highest morals i have found all over the world came from people themselves not from authority
in Mexico ,an fanatical religious country, with controls about everything and they got crimes and bad behavior we have never heard about in Democratic Europe, where anything goes in principle.
this is nothing personal just an observation

OK, then guns, limit the amount of junk food you can consume (this can lead to obesity), how many hours you can drive(sleepy drivers are dangerous), when does taking away just simple rites start to sound silly.
What give you or me the right to remove any ones rites yes banning in public areas because it intrudes others

Though I agree that we'd be better off without them, you'd never make a ban work. One word: Prohibition. We stuck it right there in the Constitution, and it worked out so well that we repealed it almost fifteen years later.

It'd be better but I can easily see people protesting that it's a violation of their rights. And because I'm in favor of holding rights FIRST, I'd say we keep smoking and drinking.
It's up to the people to decide how much they want to intake, and it's their OWN healthy concern. Nobody else's.
