Yes you need a switch.
It looks something like this:

You can look for more types of switches, but they are very cheap. You just hook your two pcs and your monitor to the switch and you use the switch to go back and forth from one computer to the other using only one monitor.

the switch you need is at your local walmart be prepared to wait for hours in the line up just to by some silly little switch
