Diet and exercise are integral to stretch mark treatment geared to prevent the appearance of the mark. Stretch mark occurs when the skin loses its elasticity and suppleness. Thus you should have protein-intensive foods like diary products and eggs, Vitamins A, C and D-enriched foods like carrots, oranges and lemon and zinc-containing fish and nuts to maintain a healthy skin.

Drink plenty of water and steer clear off aerated and caffeinated drinks. After all what you eat shows on you!

Also, have your daily quota of exercise in some form or the other. Regular exercise has its proven benefits: a sculpted body, improved blood circulation and healthy, firm skin.

well, it may be pure coincidence, but I ate a well balanced diet, drank plenty of water, exercised a little almost every day and put cocoa butter on my belly every day! I went out of town one weekend at about 8 months and forgot my lotion, and that weekend stretch marks turned up! I continued to put it on daily but more appeared! I am convinced that the reason my stretch marks came was because i went 2 days without putting in on near the end! You must keep your skin from drying out, watch your weight, and pray to keep your stomach free from the road map some of us have!

Don't bother using the coco butter. I didn't and I didn't get any stretch marks. My sister-in-law was pregnant at the same time and she did use it and now her stomach is almost purple because she has so many stretch marks.

Keep track of your weight, and drink plenty of fluids. Gaining a ton of weight while pregnant will make them worse. Lotion. Lots and lots and lots of lotion. A healthy diet. But, most importantly realise you may do all the right things, and still have some. You can actually get them lasered, and that will make them heal....
