In 2001 I worked in San Antonio, TX as a medical case manager. I used my own car and went to families homes (who were medicaide recipients) and developed a service plan with them-hooked them with services in the community, etc. Everything a social worker would do.

The company I worked for billed medicaide and they paid me. I was an independent contractor.

The company is no longer in business. Nor can I find any other companies that offer the MCM (medical case management) services in the San Antonio area.

MY QUESTION IS: I have recently moved back to San Antonio (2006) and want to go back into that business as an independent contractor for medical case management. I think that something has changed in the medicaide system that it no longer pays for these case managers to work with families in the community.

Does anyone know ANY information concerning this? Also any referrals to places that may still be doing this would be helpful! ANY AND ALL info works! thx
