I bought the DVDs of The Bourne Identity and The Bourne Supremacy thinking they were basically developed from the books by Robert Ludlum by the same name. Well, a few of the characters have the same names, and there are touches of the books' plots in the movies. But I don't think it was playing fair to change so much and keep the titles. Where do you think the limits are on such things?

Yeah, the car chases were really unbelievable. Literally. But I was kind of hoping to hear from a Bourne fan about this.

its call "artistic licence" plus the fact that if the movie is exactly like the book there can be some legal issues. maybe the book didn't have enough action. car chases, explosions sell lots of tickets

Difficult one. I always find if I have read the book and enjoyed it that the film is never going to live up to my expectations as the director may change or leave out characters and plots and do their own thing (thinking Rum Punch book & Jackie Brown film)and vice versa sometimes a good film does not guarantee a good book it was based on.

If I was the author, I would want them to keep the film exactly as I had written it for my approval.

So long as the core of the book is there it's ok I think. I tried my hand at writing a screenplay once(will never do it again).

With Books you can get into more detail. But with scripts you have to leave out some details or take two characters and meld them together.

Book:: She brushed her long blond hair and her green eyes sparkled.

Script:: She brushed her hair and her eyes sparkled.

A slight change but still a change.

Did I answer the question? Did I bore you with too much detail?

Oh well have a good one
