I have Three girls..My mother never told me anything about SEX!
I remember her giving me a box of tampons when she saw my soiled underware....Here use these. That was that.
I told myself there was no way I would repeat that...When my girls were little I answered every question asked when they asked.
I was comfortable. I remember when my oldest daughter was three she walked into the bathroom as I was putting my tampon on....her exact words were...Mama what doing? There it was I explained as much as her curiosity wanted. I followed that method with all three of mine...letting them never to feel awkward about asking me about sex. Explaining is very easy as long as you yourself are at ease. You don't need a book...speak from experience. But there is a good book called, Asking about Sex
and Growing Up...It is by Joanna Cole...It has illustrations. I bought it more for my Grandson. He just turned 8 this week..I have no experience about talking to little boys....like I said God blessed me with three Girls. Anyways when the questions come up I'm ready! My girl are grown...sometimes we look back they remember how easy it was for me to explain every thing to them.
But like I said....Just relax and be yourself. You will do fine!

My mom talked to me herself, took me to a class at the hospital, and gave me numerous books. The best one for a 9-year old would be The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls. It covers puberty, but not sex. If you took her to a class, she would better understand sex. Good luck!

There is one, I think it's called THE CARE AND KEEPING OF ME, that sounds pretty good. If you type it into the search on Amazon.com you will get related titles too, and most of their stuff has reviews.
