It depends on how often once in awhile is! If you only miss it once or twice a week, you shouldn't worry. A lot of women say that the pre natal vitamins make them sick. The baby takes all of your nutrients, so when you skip them, you are pretty much only hurting yourself. As long as you have a well balanced diet, you should be fine. I think you should communicate with your doctor a little bit more. If those pills don't make you feel well, let your doctor know, and maybe there is a better alternative! You also need to be honest about not taking them all the time. Congartulations on your pregnancy, and good luck to you!

Take them Take them Take them!!!!!!!! they made me feel sick durig the last three preganacies I had, During my first, i ignored the signs taht I was pregnant because I was in school so I did not have the vitamines for four months and my first born was born with spina bifida, now the dr never said it was cause of the vitamines but right after she was born they came out witht hte whole lavk of folic acid in diet may cause birth defects. My daughter is awesome and a great kid, I just wouldnt risk it cause having a child with a birth defect is stressful.

Hi cindy,
You need to take for prenatal vitamins everyday!!!!! However, because I have a problem swallowing pills and they do make you feel sick, my doctor recommended that I take two chewable Flintstones ORIGINAL vitamins everyday instead of the prenatal ones. Yummy taste, no sick stomach feeling after taking them and the same power as the prenatal ones you can't beat that! Please, talk to your DOCTOR about other options or this one!!!!!!!

I doubt that it will not hurt to skip taking the prenatal pill every once in a while...I have given up on taking mine...I am 28 weeks pregnant and the baby is really healthy and on the big side according to the doc...They didn't have prenatal pills years and years ago and yet people still had normal babies...

You should take them everyday, but forgetting now and then shouldn't hurt you. When I was pregnant with my daughter I had a hard time with them, no matter which ones I took they all made me sick. But I found if I took them right before bed with some soda crackers or a piece of bread, they stayed down.

You should take them all the time. If they make you sick, try taking them at night before you go to bed with a glass of milk, or juice. If you are really having a bad morning sickness day, it won't hurt you or the baby to not take them. Take them as often as you can.

According to the books, you really should take one pre-natal vitamin every day. I do not think missing one every now and again will hurt you especially if you are feeling ill. Just to be sure, check with your doctor or call one of the hospital ask a nurse lines for professiional advise.

You should take them everyday. You need the extra vitamins. If you miss one once in a while, it will not hurt you. Just be sure to take them the next day.

I would take them faithfully. Why risk birth defects like spina bifida? Take them with crackers and ginger ale or soda water. It should help the nasea.
