You need to figure out what you need and what you don't need. Here are the following popular products' purposes.
-Liquid Foundation: Evens skin tone and covers flaws such as large pores, discolorations, blemishes.
-Pressed Powder: Used after liquid foundation to set the foundation and allow the makeup to stay on longer. Controls shine and also helps cover imperfections.
-Blush: Adds a hint of contrast to the cheeks and sometimes other places where the sun hits your face.
-Mascara: Defines your lashes and opens your eyes.
-Eyeliner: Defines your eyes and gives a more dramatic look.
-Eyeshadow: Dramatizes your eyes even more with contrasting colors.
-Lipstick: Gives your lips a specific tone.
-Lipgloss: Adds shine and makes your lips appear larger.
-Lip tint/lip stain: Adds a hint of color with a wet, dewy finish.
-Concealer: Targets a specific flaw, such as blemishes or under eye lines/dark circles.
-Powder foundation: Covers like a liquid foundation but gives a convenient powder finish. Made to be like a 2-in-1 foundation (of liquid and pressed powder)
-Loose powder: Sheerly hides flaws, evens skintone, and finishes your makeup.
Now that you know the purpose of each of these products, figure out which one works for you. A lot of times your skin type determines the right product for you.
Oily Skin: Either use a powder foundation or a light, oil-free liquid foundation with a oil-blotting pressed powder.
Combination Skin: Use a light, oil-free liquid foundation with a pressed powder. Use more powder on the oily areas.
Normal Skin: Use a light, oil-free liquid foundation with a loose powder or a light pressed powder.
Dry Skin: Use a light, nourishing and oil-free liquid foundation with a light loose powder or pressed powder.
I suggest using L'Oréal True Match liquid foundation. It's the only kind that will truly match your skintone and look natural. Their pressed powder is good as well. To apply liquid foundation, carefully dot it on equally throughout your face. Only apply a few dots, you don't need to cover your entire face. I think 3-4 dots on the forehead, 3 dots on each cheek, 1-2 dots on the nose, 1 underneath the nose, and 1-2 dots on the chin are enough. Spread and blend the dots with a moist makeup sponge. Make sure the sponge is wet otherwise the makeup will not spread well! After you have applied the foundation, apply a SHEER layer of powder. Remember, a lot of makeup isn't necessary and looks cheap.
If opting for a blush, make sure it compliments your skintone. Try L'Oréal True Match blush for a natural flush. They perfectly match the right color for your skintone and undertone.
As for the eyes, a lot of makeup really isn't necessary. I only choose to wear mascara and once in a while I may put on some eyeliner. However, eyeliner tends to make people look old and tired. I'd just suggest trying mascara from Almay or CoverGirl. They have some great stuff. I especially like Almay One Coat Nourishing Thickening Mascara and CoverGirl Fantastic Lash. Thickening mascara should used on more special occasions for a dramatic look. Fantastic Lash lengthens and volumizes, so the end result is more natural and everyday.
I think heavy color on the lips looks obvious and irritating. Instead, go for a light gloss or lip tint. I love CoverGirl Smoothwear Lip Tints, CoverGirl LipSlicks, Lip Smackers, American Girl Real Beauty Conditioning Lip Shine (from Bath & Body Works), plain old Vaseline, and even Blistex lip balm. For a little more color and those special occasions, I might use Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss or CoverGirl Wetslicks instead.
Good luck!

well first thing u should do before applyin makeup is cleaning yr face thoroughly then tone it.
2-moisturise the skin using a proper moisturising cream ( moisturizers protect skin from the chemical stuff that foundation and make up contain in general).keep using yr fingers in a circular motion until yr skin absorbs all the cream.
BEST moisturizer i used is (Johnson&Johnson day cream) but i advise you to use the kind that will suit yr skin type. if yr complexion is oily then use an oil free cream.
3-In a very gentle way apply the concealer (using yr ring finger) around yr eyes so u hide any dark circles. then use compact powder after the concealer so you fix it.
4-apply foundation ( in dots) first on yr forehead, cheeks, nose and chin Then, blend it gently (don't rub) with yr middle and ring fingers' tips, startin from centre to the outside, meaning to your cheek bones. You can use a sponge all over yr face after this so you can remove any foundation excess. (use a foundation that is a one degree darker than yr skin..it will make yr face look natural and fresh)
5- use loose powder all over yr face with a big brush (to make the makeup last).
6- you can then start puttin on yr eyeshadow and mascara.
7- put some loose powder on yr lips before wearin yr lipstick cos it makes the lipstick lasts longer.
BEST foundation ever is "Avon Finish"
Best lipstick is "Avon" or "miss sporty gloss"
actually i always use Avon or Oriflame products and they rock!

Check out this website: http://www.marykay.com/daryn_anderson For instructions on how to apply your makeup click on Application Tips. Then to find out what colors might suit you best, check out the Virtual Makeover on the same site. It's very helpful, and the makeup is great too!

It's kinda impossible to give you a general ans. When you're at the store ask for help they would explain the make-up and how to apply it properly.
Maybelline, Revlon & Loreal are all good makeups

First of all you should know what type of skin you have :dry, mixed, etc. Before any makeup I apply a base-makeup.
And the most important :always clear your makeup in the evening or before you go to sleep. If don't do that your skin will become very ugly!!

Start with a clean face freshly washed. Then put on foundation or pressed powder, blush to the apples of your checks, {pick the color that suits you} eye shadow on your eye lids, eye liner, around them if you need to define them {pencil or liquid mascara on your eyelashes, and finally lipstick. I like natural based colors and also bright colors. But it depends on what you like versus what you need. If you have fair skin you can do alot of things. I like to use blue eye shadow on the top part of my eye lids. Light eye shadow colors makes your eyes stand out or "pop" if they very dark to begin with. The best kind of make-up products you can buy are from Clinique. Check out the website below for more info. Good Luck!

first you need to find out which your skin type then shop for makeup. One of the affordable is Almay. And Neutrogena is also good choice.
But if you go to a department store go for Lancome or Clinique.. and ask then to show you how to wear it...
Everybody has their own way of wearing makeup...;)

MAC has some great powder to foundation. If you are beginning to wear makeup this along with lipgloss in a peachy nude shade is all you should start with.
