I think it varies from woman to woman depending on the different in symptoms of menopause. At menopause our body quits producing hormones. So I would think that it would effect sex desire. However I have know women who have been liberated because of it because they don't have to worry about pregnancy. It depends. hormone replacement can help with symptoms as well but should be discussed with your doctor. There are many yahoo groups witch are devoted to this issue try joining some and posting the question and hear back from other women who have experienced it. Also visit

The word is menopause.
I heard a news article on the radio a few days ago which said that the fastest growing segment of American population with STDs is old people living in nursing homes... It seems after menopause, there is more unprotected sexual activity, as the older ladies don't worry about pregnancy

I wouldn't say my desire waned, exactly, but the urgency of it certainly did. It's more in my mind now and not my lower chakras. It's actually quite a relief not to have that distraction. But I can still get all hot watching Johnny Depp, so the connections haven't all been dried up! (I'm 59. Johnny, take it as a compliment!)

Most women lose some desire for sex ,somewhat. However, at that age your body starts to slow down, Men and women. Your sexual desire stems from HORMONES and when you are menopausal your hormones change.. It is normal...

It goes back to pre-menopause levels after menopause is over. That's what I've read.
