I wills be using tampons for the first time this summer. Is there anything I should not do or I should be careful of while wearing a tampon? How far do I put it in? Is it okay to swim with it in? Will it leak? Any advice/ helpful stories? Thanks!

Using tampons are fine. The only time that it is not is if you have forgotten to take it out. You will be able to feel the stopping point once you insert it. They usually insert at a slant usually towards your back. I would suggest for the first time to put your foot on the toilet seat to insert it until you get used to it.

All depending on your flow is the reason it may leak. This is why tampons are good because you can go swimming. If you are afraid of leakage use a panty liner.

Good Luck,

Josephine

First of all tampons are not safe.
If you check the cancer curve and the usage of tampons curve you'll see that the tampon usage curve and female cancers curve kinda move the same.
So my advise would be to use em sparsely.
But that aside.
A box of tampons comes with a how to use it and what to watch out for pamphlet in the box.
So most decent brands of tampons come with a manual with pictures.
Just don't buy the extra large ones if it's your first time.
And yes you can swim using tampons they don't leak.
Oh yes 1 thing put in a fresh one every 3 to 4 hours.
And make sure you don't forget to remove the final one, lots of girls see doctors cause they forgot their tampon and after a while that really starts to hurt from what I've heard.

i think basically everything has been said...make sure you have the right size for your flow. be sure to change it regularly. yes, you can swim. it shouldnt leak if inserted properly (and right absorbancy). put it in as far as the ridge things on the tampon. (kinda in the middle of it)

Make sure you buy the right size depending on your flow, dont get one too big or too small, if you get the right size it shouldn't leak. Push it right in until you can't feel it and you are comfortable, if you can feel it, it probably is not in far enough and dont leave them in for too long, as in some cases this can bring on anaphylactic shock. Also don't try fitting one in if you are not on a period as the vagina could be too dry and it will not slip in easily, be painful and put you off using them.Once you are used to using them you will find them much easier and convenient to use than sanitary towels. Good luck ( and yes, you can swim with them)

The box will let you know that, but don't leave in if you are cramping more than usual and for godsakes don't forget you have it on, change reguraly. You can get what is called toxic syndrome. (life threating)
