I tried Intel's Website but I could not figure out if my Dual Core processor is a 32-bit or a 64-bit processor. All I found is that it uses Intel's EM64T which enables access to larger amounts of memory. I have a Dell XPS 400 and I want to test Windows Vista 64-bit instead of the 32-bit if possible. Thank you in advance for your answers.

Yes, it is a 64-bit processor, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819116213

Be farwarned, I do not reccomend using a 64-bit version of ANY operating system. The reason is, most devices do not have 64-bit drivers available, this includes Windows x64 and Vista. Windows x64 has little to no 64-bit drivers available. And Vista is even worse. Heck, many devices don't even have 32-bit drivers available but Creative, ATi and nVidia all have beta drivers for the 32-bit version of Vista.

If you still go ahead with the 64-bit Vista Beta, know that many of your devices won't function including but not limited to your graphics card and sound card, and any specialized networking device(s) installed like WiFi cards.

Even with the 32-bit version you can expect the same thing but drivers should be available for your audio and video devices. Note that Vista does not yet support nVidia cards in SLi mode, anyone who has that is prone to crashes every two seconds, yes, every two seconds.

32-bit drivers WILL NOT function under a 64-bit environment. Though 32-bit programs will, however, 32-bit programs that use a 16-bit installer WILL NOT function. And the 64-bit version of IE can be dodgy at best.

Your brother was right, yes it is a 64 bit. The Pentium D 820 is also a dual core. The dual core really means that it has two seperate Processors
which alows you to do many things at the same time. That is the type computer I am using right now.
