I am a 37 year old professional with no tatts. I really would like to get a tattoo to remember my time in the Caribbean and swimming and feeding stingrays. I am unsure how others feel about tattoo's. It seem to be more widely accepted these days but I also have to take into consideration that it is a generation much younger than I that are out getting tattoo's. Am I to old for this??

You should get the tattoo if that is what you want. Who cares what anyone else thinks! The stingray is a really cool idea. I like that you have picked a subject that actually means something to you, and not just something that looks cool, it will make it even more meaningful to you. And no, you are absolutely not too old for this. In fact, most people that are getting tattoos these days are too young!! I got my first one when I was 29, and I am glad I waited that long.

This is what I have to say about tattoos. Honey, you can get Hepatitis C from it. It is the most rampant cause of cirrhosis of the liver. There is a treatment for Hepatitis C, but only 50% of those infected will respond to given treatment; the rest get liver disease and die. I also just got my blood drawn yesterday to see if I have Hepatitis C. You see we just found out 4 days ago that my husband has it and that I could also have it because I have slept with him. It's no small matter. I'm sitting here scared wondering what the results will be. I hope my test results come back negative. Please pray for me. I also hope for your sake that you choose not to get the tattoo; it's just not worth it. :(

Additional Note: A lot of people say it's fine if you get it done at a sanitary professional place. What they don't tell you is it doesn't matter how sanitary it is because part of the ink that is used goes back into the ink vials. To show you what I mean...imagine drinking out of a straw. Part of the liquid in the straw goes back into the glass when you are finished. It may be a very small amount; however, it is the same concept with the clean needles and ink vials when people get tattoos. Once you get Hepatitis C you have to get interferon shots 3 times a week for 6-18 months and there is no guarantee that it will work or that you won't relapse. I sure hope my test comes back negative. I will just hate it if it doesn't, and it's so sad that my husband has this. We have an appointment set up with his doctor in a couple weeks to go over his treatment plan. I think people that get tattoos are crazy!!!!

No! You're not too old for this! A lawyer friend of mine who's your age has 4 tatoos. She loves them. I personally don't want any, but if you've thought it through and think you can live with it in 25-30 years for now, then do it. And a sting ray is so original.

I say definitely go for it. Your choice of location is discrete enough. Your age is of no concern. I will be 40 in a week and I just had my third tat done last October. You will really love the experience of getting it done and you will cherish it forever. If you have anymore questions feel free to contact me on my 360 page.

I so no.... Just get one of those that wear off after awhile- then when they become out of style you will be ok. Some day the natural no tattoo style will be back and all those many people will be trying to get rid of theirs. Good luck with your choice.

who cares what everybody thinks? Do what you want to do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im 34 and I have 3 tattoos and Im going for more, I have two children, 18 and 12 and they think Im the coolest mom ever! My husband does not like tatoos but he respects my ways, and I do what I like.
I know that our generation was more strict but you know what? We are not children anymore, so it's time to do whatever we like!

Do it girl! Just do it :)
