The reason why people can be nervous is due to self image. The second is they haven't done their home work. I don't mean that you have a low self image or you haven't done your home work.

The first thing I would advise is the following;

1. Read books on people skills, and also giving you confidence, high self image.

2. Practise with not just your friend but someone who is a manager. Some you know.

3. Read up on the companies you are getting interviewed by. Find out about their vision, what they provide, how many staffs they have, do they do training for staff, who are their customers, how long they've been going.

Why?

Because when they ask you, "is there any questions you like to ask us?" Then you can show you have done your research and reply;

- Yes please. I see your company has possibilities for up to date training. Can you tell me more about your training please because I would like to always grow with the company and be an asset to the company.

Now, the key is to sell yourself. Tell them what you can do for them. Emphasise what you can bring to the company, department and position.

Regarding salary...let them bring up the subject of money. If you are asked what your salary expectations are too early in the process, just say you would rather postpone that discussion until you have more information about the position. Ask, “Could you tell me the range budgeted for the position?”

Don't talk about holidays.

Always put a positive spin on your answers to difficult questions. If you lack a particular skill or don't know a certain computer program, be sure to emphasize how quickly you learn. Give an example of a time when you were able to get up to speed in a similar situation. Companies are interested in people who can hit the ground running.

This is very important. Don't fold your arms. It shows your hiding something and your uncomrtable. Put your hands on your knees and smile.

Eye contact is one of the most important aspects of nonverbal communication and can make a significant difference in how you present yourself. If you look away when speaking to someone, you're viewed as lacking confidence or interest. If you have a problem looking into your interviewer's eyes, try looking at the “third eye” right above and between the eyes.

Most of all, take interviews as a learning process. Enjoy the process because you won't get a job if you don't relax and enjoy. The way I helped my sister is;

They need you, not the other way. You've got the skills and leadership. This job is YOURS! Go and Take it!

She got the job and it was her first interview. Look in the mirror and speak to yourself with confidence. What's the worse they can say, "no." Then hey, it's not your loss but theirs. Move on. There is a company ready, waiting for you.

You need to have a friend ask you the typical
interview questions you are expecting in advance. Practice over and over, until you feel confident in your answers. Remember the question, " If I have to choose between you and another person, why should I choose you? At the interview be confident, try to relax by taking a few long breaths when possible, wear loose fitting clothing, smile, look the interviewer in the eyes when answering, and thank the interviewer for seeing you before you leave. Know as much as you can about the company, what it does and how you will be the perfect person for the job because............etc.

Interviews are always nerve racking I think. Feeling confident with your skills can help too. If you know you are qualified for the position and can be an assett if you get the job you are and look more confident during the questions.

For me the hard ones are ...tell me about yourself.......what are your good qualities...what are your bad qualities......what are your goals for the future...

You don't want to seem too laid back and come off cheesy and slick. But you don't want to seem timid either . Both will get you overlooked.

You want to cater your answers to what the interviwer will want to hear so practice your answers and fill it with examples of your skills at their best. And be ready with more information should thay ask you for a more lenght explanaton for your answers.

Good Luck!
