I am going to get a mmo for this summer and i want to know what to get. I am a HUGE !!!! star wars fan, however everyone in school is obsessing about World of Warcraft. I have heard nothing but awesome things about World of Warcraft and it seems way more popular. Also how much more expensive is WOW than star wars. I just want to know which game is better and why.

World of Warcraft is so much better than SWG, in my opinion. I was never really able to get into SWG...and a lot of Star Wars fans I know hate it. WoW is fun though. If you do decided to try to play it, make a character on the Thunderhorn server and I'll help you out.

Oh, and if you would like a guest pass to try out World of Warcraft for free for 10 days to make sure that you like it before buying it, e-mail me (thealmightycupcake@yahoo.com)... and I'll get one sent to you through e-mail. It's part of a refer-a-friend program they have going on.

I absolutely LOVD playing SWG. Unfortunately I took some time off and the people I was running with had moved on or weren't on the same times I was. I just didn't have it in me at the time to start up a new clan. I also had lost most of my resources since nobody had been paying maintenance on our guild hall. Talk about a big disappointment to run for 45 minutes only to find it missing :-(

I've been thinking about playing but I'm just not sure. It seems to be THE big MMORPG right now. I'm wondering if the new Final Fantasy on Xbox360 (when it comes out) will take over WoW's popularity?

It seems like WoW gold is VERY valuable these days so I might start playing just so I can profit in the real world from selling the gold :-D

I've played them both. I thought WOW was a much better game. I love Star Wars too and was really disappointed in Galaxies. It ran really bad and the game play wasn't nearly as engaging as in WOW. I found the interface and gameplay akward. Although SWG has some cool stuff that WOW doesn't have... like houses and you can get a land speeder right off the bat (you have to wait until level 40 in WOW to get a mount). I think WOW is the superior game. Start playing it and you'll be obsessing like the rest of you school in no time. ;)

Starwars Galaxies is not a very good game. I've played both for over a year. I've played almost every MMORPG in existance. (UO,FFXI,GB,WoW,SWG,COV/COH,AA,TSO,EQ,GW). And by a longshot, World of Warcraft is the best one I've ever played. To start off, theres 8 races. And soon 10 races with the addition of bloodelves and the recently confirmed dranei. Theres the best PVP in the MMO industry, not to mention the vast, incredible instances, World Events, Professions, Great combat system, tons of new abilitys every 2 levels, fantastic community, PVP-instances, etc. etc.

Theres about 25 instances or so, just to name a few heres a partial list"

Ragefire Chasm: This is a low-level instance, yet one of my favorites. Buried beneath the horde capital of Orgrimmar lies the chasm, filled with the burning blade cultists and demons galore! If your horde, this will definitly be your first instance.

Onyxia's Lair: Home of the black dragon Onyxia, one of the hardest instances in the game. A tough instance, let alone the devastating final boss, Onyxia herself! It takes 40 men and women to defeat the dragon, but its well worth it, for onyxia carries some of the best equipment in the game.

Ahn'Qiraj (pronounced awn-kur-awge by most), Is the hardest instance easily. Before anyone can do this instance, the gates of Ahn'Qiraj must be opened by a brave gong-ringer, and before the onslaught of sillthid warriors all across southern kalimdor, Many resources must be gathered. Everyone comes in handy in the world event! After the world event, the gates are permenatly open. Inspired by egyption mythology, this instance is filled with crawly things such as flying stinging insects, giant scorpions, bi-pedal beetle-like creatures, and more.

Stratholme: The undead city of stratholme is far beyond saving. It now is hopelessly infested with the foul creatures of the plaguelands, not to mention banshees, nerubians, skeletons, zombies and liches.

The reason I listed those is because instances play a big role in the game, especially after 60. Thanks for reading, Hope to see you in the game!

I like WOW because of the Tobies and Barut. It´s an endless
thing with those guys. Neither carries a beamad or a caldot but
they do duke it out in style using just their molekkers.
