i have 2 heads of it- and one is limp and the otehr is flourishing. I water it every day. or every other day.

If lettuce is limp check that it is getting as much water as crisp one. If ground is as moist you may have something attacking the roots.

Either you aren't watering it enough or you have chosen a variety that is not heat resistant and it wilts until the sun goes down. Be careful. If it is the latter question, it will make it a bit hot and not so tender. Get a little shade over it or replant in fall.
