A girl and myself were engaged for 2 years and had been together for 5 years. We have a 3 year old son named Colin. She says she still loves me but judging the way she kisses me and the demeanor of her friends towards me I beg to differ. I worked very hard to provide for the 3 of us but I always felt like I could do more. When we should've been filing taxes jointly, she claimed our son as well. The IRS had a problem with that, so now I owe 4,000$$ to uncle Sam, she promised to help out with (our) child relief refund to pay, but she blew every dime leaving me with that enormous bill. Needless to say, its not going so well nowdays, she rebounded into another fling, clung to someone that has no clue about her issues, therefore no arguments. She is 24 in December and he is 16. SICK!!! I know I should just forget about her but its easier said than done, probably due to emotional attachment and a 3 year old. I believe GOD has a plan for me and maybe this is what had to happen for it to work

I am sure you can pay the IRS off in installments. I suggest you advise her you will be claiming the child next yr. I suggest getting an attorney for a couple of reasons. 1 so you can see your child and 2. for making it a court document of you claiming your child. It is not fair to you. She is a very selfish person. Keep your faith and suggest you taking your son? I am sure she is busy with her 16 yr old !

Contact the IRS and set up a payment plan...they do offer these.

Do yourself and you son a favor and make some tough decisions...
Contact a lawyer and find out about custody. You son needs a responsible and loving parent. I am not doubting she loves him, but, she is not being a responsible mother or adult.
Even if you are not married and you want custody, most states give you a "parenting plan". It outlines the legal guardianship of the child, and who is entitled to make decisions about his health, school, religion, etc...It also establishes a visitation schedule to follow. This is very important, especially for you if they grant her custody. This is your CYA when it comes to having time with your son. This also helps you if she does get custody, and it may be where she starts to violate it, giving you grounds for gaining custody. In addition, there is also a place where it establishes child support. Don't EVER skip a payment no matter how many ill feelings you have/get towards his mom. Make sure you keep a good record of all payments...give her a money order or cashier's check so you have a hard carbon copy...if you use yout checkbook, be sure to keep every statement with the copy of the cancelled check. Trust me...it will protect you!!!
Finally, in a parenting plan there is a place where it establishes who gets to claim the child for tax purposes. If you want it, fight for it, if not, she will get it.

Please, CYA and talk to a lawyer quickly.
Best of luck to you and your son!

that was real stupid of you to let her file taxes like that it seem she were the paints in that house but what i would do is file for a divorce and full custody of your child under the ground of adultery then when you go to court she is responsible for half of the debt that you 2 had while you were marry.

Pray about this and see what God reveals to you and talk to her about how you feel also. See if she is God's will for your life.
