A Trojan is a program written especially get into your files and to do harm or to gather information for another computer. They can be difficult to get rid of but are not impossible. Look for Ad-Adware SE or Lavasoft on the Net. You can get a free version but you should buy the full version if you can. Install it and run it. It will pick up almost anything on your computer that needs to be gotten rid of. You can also immunize your computer with the program, keeping it safer in the future from new virus attacks.

If you have McFee, then read the Help section and find out what to do to delete the file/s which are infected. I no longer have McAfee because I didn't feel it was doing a good enough job for me.

First, against Trojan infections you are going to need a standalone trojan detector/remover application. Thankfully, there are two (2) well known free anti-Trojan programs: Ewido (recently acquired by Grisoft makers of AVG Antivirus) and A square. The links are:

1. Ewido http://www.ewido.net/en/
2. A square http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/download/

During the 30 day trial period, Ewido provides real time protection. After the trial period, the real time protection is disable but everything else works.

After installing the program, you will need to update the signatures. You can install one or both programs without any problems, just make sure not to run scans at the same time.

Even though McAfee says it is a Trojan, it is not unheard of for McAfee to give false positives. You can search the name of the Trojan at Computer Associates (makers of PestPatrol) spyware encyclopedia to verify it. The link is:

I strong recommend to quarantine suspicious files instead of deleting them entirely.

A Trojan horse is a malicious program that is disguised as or embedded within legitimate software. The term is derived from the classical myth of the Trojan Horse. They may look useful or interesting (or at the very least harmless) to an unsuspecting user, but are actually harmful when executed.

Trojan horses are almost always designed to do various harmful things, but could be harmless.
Examples are:

erasing or overwriting data on a computer.
encrypting files in a cryptoviral extortion attack.
corrupting files in a subtle way.
upload and download files.
spreading other malware, such as viruses. In this case the Trojan horse is called a 'dropper' or 'vector'.
setting up networks of zombie computers in order to launch DDoS attacks or send spam.
spying on the user of a computer and covertly reporting data like browsing habits to other people (see the article on spyware).
make screenshots.
logging keystrokes to steal information such as passwords and credit card numbers (also known as a keylogger).
phish for bank or other account details, which can be used for criminal activities.
installing a backdoor on a computer system.

Try Ewido Security Suite - You can use the demo version to start - http://esd.element5.com/product.html?cart=1&productid=531168&languageid=1&oplayout=USA&affiliateid=63733

Begin at the base. Grasp the base of the trojan firmly so as not to let any liquid leak out. Carefully withdraw the shaft and turn away from your partnet before unrolling the trojan from the base to the tip. Do not throw it away in the garbage that can pollute or clog the sewage system. Dispose of it in the trash and wash yourself with soapy water. Perfect! You now know how to remove your trojan!

Go to logmein.com, and look through some of the freeware, I know there is one there that removes, everything, trojans, spyware, adware, viruses. Or you can go to panda software, now known as CA. Do a pc check-up, they have an app for free that will take out this problem.

Go to www.stop-sign.com and sign up for their service. It will get rid of absolutely all adware, spyware and viruses. I ran Yahoo's virus scan and was told my computer was free of everything. Then about 2 minutes later, I ran Stop-Sign and it found 23 more adware and spyware cookies PLUS 2 Trojan viruses. Of course, it costs $7 a month, but it's well worth it.

Allow McAfee to quarantine the virus and don't worry about it anymore.

Good Luck
