Last night my friends and I got into an argument with another group of guys outside a bar. One dude threw a punch at my friend, and all hell broke loose. Next thing I know, I'm pounding a guys head into the ground when I was jumped from behind.

I started wrestling with this nutter, and before I could pin him, he started chomping my arm. I have black and blue teeth marks on my forearm, and it actually broke the skin in two spots.

I washed it thoroughly, and poured peroxide on the puncture wounds before applying an antiseptic cream.

What diseases are transmissible through a human bite? I'm keep an eye out for infection, but should I worry about something communicable as well?

The human mouth is the most disease ridden orifice that there is. It has more germs on average than a dog bite, or a bat bite, or even a pig bite. In fact, you could get any number of diseases from this attack, including, but not limited to: Herpes Zoster, Hepatitis A and/or C, a cold or influenza virus, or tuberculosis. Basically, get to a doctor. If you successfully knocked out some of this dude's teeth, take them with you so they can be tested for diseases. By the way, you cannot get AIDs this way unless the biter had a bleeding mouth wound. AIDS is not transmitted by saliva.

depends whether he alos had blood in his mouth at the time

if he did you risk is high - if he didnt you risk is low

HIV, hepatitis A, B or C are all possible - main risk is just a general infection - personally in about 3 months I would go and get tested for transmissible human diseases

on the other hand it serves you right for being a stupid drunk - fights are never smart and you and your friends should have not let it escalate - I know you didnt throw the first punches but you should have all walked a long time before that - bottom line if you continue in that behaviour sooner or latter you will come across a mean M*thr f**ker and get really hurt - forget the risk of bites - you will be knifed or shot dude - life is too short dude without shortening it further

I am not sure what diseases or infections can take place with a bite that breaks skin, but I would go to a place like doctors care, where it is not that expensive and ask them to check me for any disease or infections. I would do this like..........tomorrow!! Or go online and type in the yahoo search engine DISEASES CAUSED BY HUMAN BITES.

You should go to the police station and make a report. In our state they treat human bites like dog bites and they must be reported. You can get a multitude of "things" from a human bite.; so you did the right thing in treatment. See your doctor anyway just to make sure.

you better get it checked just in case, Aids as well as hepatitus are transferable through broken skin. the human mouth is one of the worst for carrying bacteria. Worse than a dogs mouth they say. . you did good by taking action. but still wouldnt hurt to get it checked out. Good luck. And stay out of fights.lol
