i have the nextel i80 and i let the battery completly dead and now it wont work even plugged in does that mean it is messed up or does it just need to charge and if so why wont it work plugged in.

Sounds like you might actually have a bad battery. Some of those cell phone batteries aren't very good once the charge has been totally eaten away. I had a Motorola that was super until I literally drained the battery out of it. It did recharge, but wouldn't hold near the charge it held before I let it die.
Try getting a new battery for it.

normally you will have to give it a few minutes to get some charge before you can use it while its plugged in.
