Use warm compresses but DO NOT puncture the sty!
Most styes go away on their own in 5-7 days.
Apply warm compresses 4-6 times a day for about 15 minutes at a time to help the drainage. Keep your eyes closed.
Gently scrub the eyelid with tap water or with a mild, nonirritating soap or shampoo (such as baby shampoo). This may help with drainage. Close your eyes as you scrub so you do not injure your eyes.
Do not squeeze or puncture the sty. A more serious infection may occur as a result.
Discontinue the use of eye makeup as well as eye lotions and creams because they may be infected.
Discontinue wearing your contact lenses because the sty may cause an infection to spread to your cornea with the continued use of your contact lenses.

Yes, and I know how painful they can be. There's an ointment you can buy at someplace like Walmart. That will work ok, but it takes awhile and I know you want it gone right away. What works for me is to put hot compress (a washcloth dampened with the hottest water you can stand) on the sty to bring it to a head. Then very carefully (and this is gross) pop it with a sterile needle. Told you it was gross, but also provides instant relief. DON'T TRY THIS IF YOU DON"T HAVE A STEADY HAND!

yes, I used to get them regularly - the best way to get rid of them that I found was an old wives' remedy - three inward rubs (from the outside corner of your eye to the inside, nose-side) with a wedding ring/band. Worked every time and i have no clue why!
