Some of the examples people have given aren't actually questions or at least not full questions. The words we call question words are who, what, where, why, when and how. We don't tend to refer to do or is as question words because they are actually verbs.
Anyway, I don't actually know why. Maybe it was because they were all taken from the same language in the first place and how was taken from somewhere else later on.But why isn't who pronounced woo, when all the other ws are pronounced like that?

For word history, try the link below. They all come from someWHAT similar sources. The site can tell you WHERE and WHEN. HOWever, many questions beg to be asked?

WHO came up with these words, and WHY the letter "W"?

Actually, they all start with ' WH'
.........and everybody seems to have forgotten the word WHICH
Perhaps it all started when people had to let out the big breath they had been holding in indignation before asking 'WHy, WHat, WHere, WHo, WHich, WHen.....?
Just a thought....

The reason they start with a W is because it looks like a questiony type letter, I mean if we said xhy and xhere etc that looks like its a dead word do you see what I mean?

I dunno but ppl are missing your point.

Your words are question words that can form an entire sentence/idea, e.g what? where? why? how? who? where? as opposed to do? can? etc.

Perhaps you should point out that that's what you mean so someone can asnwer your actual q rather than falsifying your statement?
