You should pick up your first round of friends, take them back to your house (make sure there are refreshments and food to keep them entertained), then go pick up your other friends. If it's not that far of a distance to go ge them I'm sure your friends won't mind being at your house while you go and pick up your other friends. They will have eachother to stay entertained while you're gone.

Stay at home with your guests who have already arrived. If you can, talk to the other ones, who will be coming later, and explain the situation to them. They're your friends; they'll understand. Happy Birthday to You!!!

Sounds like you need to hire a mini bus, or tell them to find their own transport...they could all chip in for a cab.
