I really love tattoos, people with tats, etc. I have always been fascinated by them and wish I could get one, but I never have because I just can't find a symbol or picture that means enough to me to permanently mark up my body. Plus, I think they are way too common now. My fiance and I are getting married in 3 months, and he got a tat a few months ago of a cross made of nails, between his shoulder blades. I really like it, and because he drew it himself, think it is very original. Now he wants another one, only this time of a cross on his right forearm. While I really like the idea, I have reservations about the location of the tat. He wants to be a teacher (grade school kids) and i'm worried he may have a hard time getting hired, or that he might hate it later. I'm just trying to look out for him, but I feel like he resents my feelings about it. I don't want to hold him back from anything, and told him he could get it, as it isn't my body. Am I crazy for feeling this way!?

Let him get the tattoo. He can still get a job as a teacher. Some schools won't care because it is not an offensive symbol. Other schools may ask that he wear long-sleeved shirts to work, but it won't be a problem. I've known MANY teachers with tattoos. I don't think he'll regret it either, because he's going with a symbol he already knows he's going to be comfortable with (because he likes the cross he's got now). Don't worry about him having a hard time getting a job. He doesn't need to tell his new boss if he doesn't want to, and can even wear long sleeves to keep it covered if he needs to.

This is what I have to say about tattoos. Honey, you can get Hepatitis C from it. It is the most rampant cause of cirrhosis of the liver. There is a treatment for Hepatitis C, but only 50% of those infected will respond to given treatment; the rest get liver disease and die. I also just got my blood drawn yesterday to see if I have Hepatitis C. You see we just found out 4 days ago that my husband has it and that I could also have it because I have slept with him. It's no small matter. I'm sitting here scared wondering what the results will be. I hope my test results come back negative. Please pray for me. I also hope for your sake that you choose not to get the tattoo; it's just not worth it. :(

Additional Note: A lot of people say it's fine if you get it done at a sanitary professional place. What they don't tell you is it doesn't matter how sanitary it is because part of the ink that is used goes back into the ink vials. To show you what I mean...imagine drinking out of a straw. Part of the liquid in the straw goes back into the glass when you are finished. It may be a very small amount; however, it is the same concept with the clean needles and ink vials when people get tattoos. Once you get Hepatitis C you have to get interferon shots 3 times a week for 6-18 months and there is no guarantee that it will work or that you won't relapse. I sure hope my test comes back negative. I will just hate it if it doesn't, and it's so sad that my husband has this. We have an appointment set up with his doctor in a couple weeks to go over his treatment plan. I think people that get tattoos are crazy!!!!

I would probably choose to get a tattoo of the infinite sign with the quote "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite" from a book I read called The Perks of Being A Wallflower. I'd probably put it somewhere around my rib or hip area.

All You can do is advise him not ton do it. He is grown man If a problem comes up later Remind him how you told him so before not to do it. Good Luck.
