You'll need to restate that problem.
It's not solvable as written.

9x = 3/8?

Simple. Just do then, x = (3/8)/9 = 1/24.

But 10x-1/4 does not equal 9x, otherwise x would have to equal both 1/4 and 1/24. So there is no solution.

If the second "=" sign meant something else, then here are my solutions:

If = meant +, then the answer is 5/8.
If = meant -, then the answer is -1/8.

Assuming it is 10x-1/4= 9x- 3/8

1. Multiply by 8 to remove the fractions- you get
80x- 2 = 72x - 3

2. Place like terms on opposite sides- move the x multiples to one side and the integers to the other. You get
80x-72x=-3+2
8x = -1

3. divide by 8, x= -1/8

10x-1/4=9x=3/8

10x-9x -1/4 = 3/8

x=3/8+1/4
x=3/8+2/8
x=5/8

10x-1/4=9x+3/8
10x=9x+5/8 (1/4 added to each side)
x=5/8 (9x subtracted from both sides)

(converted from fraction to decimal and final answer will be reconverted back to fraction!)

(i am assuming that you accidentally hit = instead of +, so will do it in two variations to accompany that assumption)

**assuming 10x-.25+9x=.375:

19x = .625 [combine like-terms]

ANS: x=.625/19 --> x=5/152

**assuming 10x-.25=9x+.375

(combine like-terms)

ANS: x=.625 --> x=5/8

Done and done, plz give 10 points!

9x=3/8
x=3/72
x=1/24
10x-1/4= 1/24
10x=1/24+1/4
10x=1/24+6/24
10x=7/24
x=7/240
