~~Many women have periods throughout their pregnancy, however if it seems to be a normal period or heavier than normal, or if there is any cramping at all, to be on the safe side go see the Doctor. if the doctor says everything is ok, it wasn't a wasted visit, you got peace of mind out of the visit.~~

Bleeding like bleeding OUT OR spotting.. there is a huge difference there.
Spotting is quite normal as far as 12 weeks and bleeding out is never a good sign and she needs to be checked by a doctor NOW>

Bleeding during pregnancy has many possible causes, some minor, and others that may pose a serious risk for you or the fetus. The causes of bleeding are typically quite different in early and late pregnancy. All bleeding during pregnancy should be evaluated by your doctor.

Sometimes bleeding is normal during the first few months of pregnancy, but sometimes it is a very serious problem. Only a doctor can tell if she is okay or not, TAKE HER TO A HOSPITAL NOW to make sure.

She could be having a threatened abortion which means the baby could still be surviving or a miscarriage. To be sure whether the baby is still alive you can buy a pregnancy test kit coz the results will be negative if the pregnancy is no longer there but she will still need to see a doctor. GOOD LUCK!

You may want to check with the doctor. It really isn't normal, but it isn't necessarily impending miscarriage, either. The doctor will probably just tell her to keep monitoring the situation.
