As a recovering bulimic and anorexic, I feel for your friend! It's really a hard battle but can be overcome. As for myself, I had to seek help and go to an inpatient treatment facility called Remuda Ranch in Arizona. It saved my life and I now have learned how to be healthy. I eat to live now, not live to eat! I'll pray for your friend and I think you're a real special person to be so concerned for her. I've researched and found some links to, hopefully, help you. By the way, the lying is SO common with the eating disorders, so don't take it personal. It's just an embarrassing disorder and most need help to stop. An eating disorder goes way beyond just food, it's an emotional problem. Restriction, binging and purging are just symptoms.

Hmmm, this could be hard, as you aren't going to get very much assistance from your friend to help herself. Yes, she DEFINITELY needs a psychologist and a nutritionist! Do you go to school together? Can you talk to a school counselor about it, or even her parents? Have you said anything to your parents about it? They might be able to approach her parents on a level they could understand. Your friend is going to keep lying to you, she knows deep down that she needs help, but won't accept it because it won't go in line with her "ideal" body image. You need to talk to someone close to you who can help you help your friend.

Good luck.

speak to your doc or get a professional in on this. Talk to parents or family. Nutrition advisor or psychiatrist.

She needs help, try to convince her to seek the help she needs. Eating disorders can kill you.
