You can go to school, college or university in the physical education department and start taking courses there as well as sports organisations offer camps and training certifications for officials...the higher you want to go...the longer the duration of the course and the deeper the technical information will become. There are two sides of certification...the theory side and the practicum side. Once you have passed the theoretical side of the courses....you start what can be viewed i suppose as a apprenticeship where you log and document your time as an official referee in the sport you have chosen. After a certain number of hours put into the practicum, you can apply to have yourself tested and observed by higher level offcials who watch you at work and provide feedback and/or criticisms to help you refine your skills. The more time you spend now getting involved with and volunteering in your community in the chosen sport, the more exposure you will get and easier this whole process will be later!

Hello,
I just think it is possible. I mean why would soccer fans overseas stop rioting just because it's the World Cup, if they can control themselves for this why not for any given game???
To ref football you have to learn the game (obvious), go to classes that teach the game, then work your way up from pee wee, to pop warner, to high school, to college then get asked to join the NFL. You'll make 30,000 US dollars a year as a ref so you will probably want to keep your day job and you will have to travel alot.
Good luck :)

Well, first you have to know whatever game you want to ref. very well. Then start out with community group games
(like little league, or junior soccer)
Then you can pursue the education and formal training it would take.
Good luck

Many start off doing little kids games and then work their way up. Try your local school teams or rec center.

You might want to get one of the other Referre's aside...And ask one of them, how they went about getting the position. I bet they will be of great knowledge, to help you, with your desire. Good Luck!
