Written language started as pictures from there came Culture. In every GREAT ancient civilization you can always find examples of their ART. Every historical period always had their ART to go along with it. Art not only changed Our World it helped to BUILD Our World.

I like to believe the ripple effect is a powerful thing. If art helps but one person come to peace that person will effect another person and who knows what good can come of it?

i have to agree with ranchero. In experience as an artist, no one can really change the world with art. There are art movements that have tried to in the past, but nothing really can. It's an idealistic view, it can broaden perception, but really...it can't change the world.

I think that the PEN is mightier than the sword and the camera is pretty potent too. I'm not so sure that the paintbrush is quite as powerful but it has it's place. Music is also influential but the lyricists usually think that they are more influential than they really are - tend to be a little self important.

I believe it can change someones perception of the world,but I doubt it can change the course of human events.
