A brother and sister that had drowned in a canal. They were 4 and 5 years old.I was the EMT on the ambulance that responded to the call. It was too late to do anything for them as they were already dead when we got there. that was 19 years ago and I have never forgotten it.

out in the field ive seen some really sad things. too many. it comes with the job. but the worst was walking into a house where the child was unresponsive and the parents are just walking around completely nonchalant....the baby had bruises all over and blood from the back of her head and then there was a big hole in the wall with a little blood.....you get the picture, thats the worst thing ive ever seen in my life. still makes me feel horrible just thinking about it.

I met this girl who was a vegetable. She couldn't do ANYTHING w/o someone's help, and what's worse, she's got an older brother who's perfectly normal. she can't even talk, but her brother talks up a storm...u know what I mean. But God had some reason for her to be alive, so there she was, just lying on her couch, watching as her parents entertained my parents and me, and her brohter running around, playing with his toys, and all she could do was moan in recognition when people smiled at her and said hi. Even her food had to be pure'd, so she could swallow it. Even Terry Shaivo had a wheelchair! I was about 11 I think, and the girl was my age.

Germany at the U.S. Army Hospital in Landstuhl....I was working in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit...they brought in a little 2 month old baby girl...with her forehead the size of a football...her father had grabbed the baby from her little feet and slammed her into the wall...when she came to our unit she was already brain dead....the parents were arrested .....thats the saddest Ive ever seen

The day a stray kitten had curled up on the engine of my car, I did not know she was there and when I started the car the fan blades sliced across her face and blinded her. I took her to the vet, he said he could treat her but she would be blind for life and she was pretty badly cut up as well, her front legs had gotten caught in the fan; I had to have him put her to sleep.

Oh my god that is so sad. I've never seen any animal get killed by a car. But it makes me so sad when I see them splattered in the streets. The saddest thing i've seen, was 9/11.

I think the saddest thing I have seen in a long time is the way the English language gets butchered on Yahoo Answers.

My aunt was murdered violently and she suffered something truely horrific, she was raped, choked, and tortured, she was sodomized with a broomstick and knives... choked to death and left out in the middle of a blizzard naked with a refridgerator threw on her. They never caught the man who murdered her because they didnt have enough evidence to convict him even though everyone knows who done it... she was like a mother to me, not a day goes by that I dont think about how she suffered and how she isnt with me here today. She was the closest to a mother I had ever had and she was taken from me and from her mom and dad and everyone in our family... It was the saddest day of my life and I still cry every day. Her case was closed and its been 12 years... her case is still unsolved!

While in China I save a dead baby girl in the gutter, another victim of the worthlessness of the female gender in some countries.

9/11 viewed in it's entirety. I watched people jump to their deaths, emergency personel weep, and a nation brought to it's knees in grief, shock, and dismay. I will never forget the horror that unfolded on that dark day.
