it used to be...with the wobbly sets and the cheap monsters/effects
now the new series (plural) have really rewritten the cliché of Doctor Who being geeky, it's cool now and we finally have a sexy Doctor! Russel T. Davies has got some amazing writers onto it as well, as the last 2-parter (The Impossible Planet, The Satan Pit) showed in style
people who say Doctor Who is for geeks tend to be the people who don't watch it; i'm sure if we could sit them down with the box sets of the two new series they would soon change their minds!

I don't think it's geeky. It's never been geeky. Granted, some of the special effects done in the earlier episodes are far, far, less superior when you watch them now and compare them to what is available today - but then computers and technology has changed in the thirty-forty years since the show began. I will admit the show is the only sci-fi show I watch!

the doctor himself is geeky, its the look they wanted fr this incarnation. The show though is fantastic, Tennent is closer to the doctors of old, complete english eccentric that you often feel isnt in control until the last minute

No!.... A classic bit of TV that should never have been axed in the first place!
Tennant is good as the current Doctor, but WHY WHY WHY did Chris Eccelston quit after one series?...... He was the 'Re-Birth' for Dr Who!
And I'll Exterminate anyone who disagrees!!!!

Well, some people have suggested that David Tennant (especially when he's wearing glasses) does look like a geek, but I would say that a geek to one person is another person's hot blooded male.

No, only people entirely lacking in imagination, and therefore intellectually subnormal, would say it was geeky. And it has proper BBC monsters too.

It's a good show. I prefer Christopher Ecclestone in the last series though - he was the perfect doctor!
