It could just be that your baby is use to you doing things for him. I have 3 boys and each one was different when it came to them learning things for themselves. As for the bottle think, try to get him to hold it and then walk away. I know that sounds harsh, but sometimes you have to let them try to figure it out without you watching. My middle son was like that. As long as he could see me, he wouldn't try anything on his own. As for the crawling thing, have you tried getting on the floor with him? Sometimes children will only do things that are modeled for them. If he has no improvement then I would suggest taking him to the doctor.

Good luck!!

Crawling is not considered a true developmental milestone, since many babies never crawl. And the window for walking is a big one--anywhere from six months to a year and a half.

As for not holding a bottle, big deal. Will he drink out of a cup? Try a sippy cup. Also, some kids just don't don't figure out how or like to hold a bottle sitting up. Will he hold one lying down? And if he's continuing to gain weight, has no symptoms of dehydration, and poops and pees normally every day, there's nothing to worry about in any case.

The good news is, you have his 12-month well baby checkup coming up soon, and it's the perfect opportunity to bring up all your concerns with your pediatrician.

He doesn't sound developmentally-delayed to me. I know plenty of normal, even gifted children who didn't enjoy being on their tummies and didn't crawl and didn't walk until they were well over a year old.

But if there IS a problem, your doctor will be able to direct you to the resources you need to counteract the problem.

My son crawled late only because we didn't give him enough tummy time on the floor on his own. You have to work with him and give him a goal to reach in front of him. He'll find a way to get there eventually. About the bottle thing, you may just have to hold it. It's better for him to feel close to you and not to go to bed with abottle anyways. Lying flat and drinking can cause fluid to pool in his ears and cause ear infections. He'll get the hang of it soon enough.

he could be a lazy baby. but you should take hin to his doctor. my 2 child has learning disabilities. and considerd lazy, until kindegarden. thats when he started acting out physicaly.....because he could not keep up.i would like to say hes all good ,but reality hes 19 going on 10. if there are problems be understanding but firm.find ways to reward goals. like crawling.....instead ofputting him on his tummy, place his knees in place and show him how. also try putting him on his back and play RIDE THE BIKE, this will help with his leg muscules. holding a bottle ........i dont know. i breast fed, then moved to a cup.

it seems like he is just being lazy maybe because mom gives in and helps him...trust me if hes really that hungry he WILL pick that bottle up and drink it or another thing I did with my daughter is I put the bottle or say a cookie on a plate in the floor about 5 ft away...believe me if he wants it bad enough he will crawl to go get it.....GOOD LUCK:)

You need to get that child to a doctor and get him tested. There are some obvious developmental delays that your doctor needs to know about and look into.
