I don´t if it can harm a baby´s eyes but I know all babies are attracted to lights...Both my girls always looked at lights. They are now 11 and 5 and have no eye problems.

My baby used to always look at lights as well...theri just fascinated. It won't harm their eyes...they would squint if it was too bright. Baby's see things that we can't and are still in touch with where they came from. Let her stare off into the distance...if it makes her happy.

No all babies do that. They like movement as well and may stare at ceiling fans for a long time. If the light is too strong (like the sun) it will hurt their eyes and look away. So don't worry.

Remember that the baby's sees differently from you so what you may perceive as too bright is not for him. If it was hurting him he would look away.
Who knows why they stare at things and what they are thinking... I guess he looks at lights for the same reason he stares at everything else...he has never seen it before (except for yesterday which he doesnt remember), he doesnt know what it its and its just darned fascinating! Oh to be a baby agin. Entertainment for hours just watching a dog wag his tail.

They can't see much else very clearly so light variations are really interesting. Don't worry your baby will be fixated on the TV soon! His eyes will be fine- at least you know he can see properley otherwise the lights would not have an effect.

My baby does this to and I believe it is the shadows around the light and not the light. They also see angels this could also be an explanation

Babies can't see that far as they vision isn't perfect yet.
Bright lights stand out, as they do for adults, so they can see bright lights better than anything, so it is only natural for them to stare at them. It's all new for them.
Enjoy him now, they don't stay babies for long.
