I only have a few weeks until my due date, and this is my second pregnancy. My feet swelled during my first pregnancy, but nothing like this!!! I look like I have cankles, and it feels like I'm walking on knubs. My calves have started to swell also, but nothing above the knee. (My fingers swell during the night, but go back to "normal" during the day.) When I wake up in the morning, my feet have only gone down to half their swollen size- still very swollen to me. The only shoes I can wear are adjustable sandals.

I know I'm supposed to keep off of them, and keep them elevated, but with a 2 year old, it's quite impossible. Not to mention my doctor appointments, his doctor appointments, and his bi-weekly physical therapy- I'm always on them. Does anyone have any suggestions for relief???

Oh, girl....I feel for your...cankles...been there, done that! When you can, prop them up--above your heart. Even if it's for 5 minutes, and especially when you sleep. The trick is to getting them ABOVE your heart.

And a good massage wouldn't hurt either. Surely someone owes you a favor, or has pity on a pregnant woman! GOOD LUCK!

try cutting back on salt too, and if your in a hot climate put on the A/C. I know how hard it is with a 2 yr old and being pregnant but the only way to bring it down is rest and elevation.

buy some of the sock that they use for people with poor circulation. They help keep the fluid from building up in your limbs. You REALLY need to get them elevated as much as possible!!!

Good luck

drink lots of water, so that you go to the bathroom more and get rid of the excess water in your body. elevate them when ever you can. those are the only solutions i can think of. if its really bad you should call your doctor.

Elevation is the only thing I know, but to be on the SAFE side, contact your OB/GYN to test for toxemia
