I know it's strange, but both my favorite book and what I think is the best book ever written are both children's books.

My favorite book happens to be the Tale of Despereaux; It's a truely amazing story about love, courage, and a mouse with oversized ears.

And the best book ever written it the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It is a tale of companionship, loss, and learning how to love, even after your heart has been shreded into a million pieces. I was sobbing at the ending!

I could tell some of them. For example, Dostojevski's Brothers Karamazovi are great as well as Stendal's Red and Black. Those were the most interesting for me during secondary school. Then I started to read Shakespeare and I was delighted. He really did great work! All those comedies, tragedies..my favourite is Much Ado About Nothing.
Anyways, my favorite is still The Great Gatsby.

The award for importance, both culturally and religiously, goes to the Bible.

The award for general brilliance goes to J.R.R. Tolkien's epic The Lord of the Rings. The amount of depth in that book -- the languages, the characters, the backstory he created, the geography -- it's mind blowing.

Deuce already encouraged Screwtape Letters, that's pleasant. I was once going to mention virtually whatever by way of C.S.Lewis (who wrote Screwtape Letters). Mere Christianity may be very well, additionally The Great Divorce, Letters to Malcom, and of path the Narnia studies. He additionally wrote a technology fiction trilogy that's distinctive. The Narnia studies and the sci-fi trilogy aren't honestly approximately -Jesus-, however approximately Christian concepts. So folks who don't seem to be Christians can learn them and consider them. eight^)
