the person that i got the plant from already watered the plant. he wouldn't really tell me how to care for the plant and its my first plant.

My bamboo lives in water alone. So I'd guess you can't overwater them.

If its in pebbles which it usually is to hold it up you will notice it drying out just fill it up every couple of days. Here is a cool note place it in the north corner of your home in the light , but not direct sun. It will bring you wealth, & good health. ( *see below )

Bamboo is usually in a moist environment (rainforest) so water it every day, just maybe a glassful of room temperature water. It also depends on how big the plant is.

the dirt should be damp at all times stick your finger in the pot if damp don't water

Twice a day.Morning before the sun rise and evening after the sunset.Im in the tropica country.This is wat i would do.Take care.
