I wasn't aware that Dell Computers are unreliable, I've got an older Pentium 3 and it still works fine. I see and use a lot of Dell Computers in my job as a Network Printer Repairman and I've never heard any complaints about any of the Dell Computers I've had to load Print Drivers on.

We have a contract with Dell at work and we have no end of trouble with them. Unfortunately the contracts are negotiated centrally, so I do not have a say in the use of Dell but I would never willingly buy a machine from them.

I can't stand that they use non-standard parts and change models so frequently that often machines bought less than a month apart will have incompatible parts.

Lots of people eat in McDonalds, but it doesn't mean the food is any good.

They're not (anymore). Since Dell has aquired Alienware you could say that Dell makes the best (and the worst) PC.
So if you want to buy a Dell be sure it's an Area 51 m Laptop or somthing like that and you won't be disappointed :D

Maybe it's not Dell at fault. Maybe you don't know how to operate a computer. You have to do preventive maintenance on a computer to keep it running well. May be if you bought a book about computers, you may find the little things needed to be done to computers are necessary in order to enjoy having one.

Dell computers are put together by people you will never meet, so I would surmise that some days they just don't care about what they put together, compared to the local computer shop or putting together the computer yourself.
But that is only my own opinion I am sure Dell is just great!

YES. I was going to ask the same thing. I've had my Dell laptop since summer 2004 and already I've had to replace my hard drive, my dvd drive, and my fan. And I don't use my computer THAT much. I told that to a customer service rep. and he basically told me that other companies are better. (He was like "Yeah, I don't know, I mean I've had my HP laptop for 7 years now and I haven't had any problems with it") lol. I don't like Dell. I will say that they do have great customer service though.

I have had a Dell notebook since January 2003. I know a lot of people do have problems with Dell, but I'm not one of them.
