HOSTEL BLUES! advice?

Question

i live in a hostel.my problem is that i dont gel wid my roommate much.she is good &helpful basically &a nice supportive person as a whole but is also rather vain and self centered,wat i mean is that she likes to talk about herself a lot.and tho' we publicaly support each other,there is always a kind of cold war between us.like wen i score over her in anything like a better dress or more no.of phone calls,she is openly jealous and tries to get back at me in same way,tho' wen she get better over me i too feel envious but avoid open show of emotions.lately,i have also stopped listening her self centrd talk,so our relations are getting edgy.i also hv another frnd who though is not vain & wid whom i spend a lot of time but not feel much comfy wid her,she likes to talk bad about others many times &it irks me,tho' she is v.nice wid me.this is the end of our college 2nd yr.&next yr i have to choose a new roommate, which 1 shud i choose?
P.S.the 1st one has been my roommate for 2yrs

Wow, that is a tough thing you are going through! It is always hard to go through relationships. People are not perfect and we all have our issues and quirks. If you are really unhappy with your living arrangements, then try to find something that better suits you.

There is nothing wrong with having lots of friends. If there is jealousy involved it could really be an issue of feeling insecure. It is best to not put "all your eggs in one basket" in relationships. The more positive people you have in your life, the better.
