Sorry; why is WHAT the Netherland and the Punjab? Is this about the World Cup? Or are you referring to the use of "the" in the names? In that case, I have no idea, except that I think it's actually "The NetherlandS;" which means, literally, the low countries or low lands. Most of The Netherlands is below sea level, and has been reclaimed from the sea by a system of dikes.

As to The Punjab, perhaps it is short for "The Punjab Region," or something like that.

Who is going to argue with punjab? I dont see any reason why.
