From this naturalized citizen's standpoint, I think the problems in this country are HUGE. There are no morals, the education system is abysmal, our economy is in shambles, people don't respect authority or know how to work hard, people are ignorant and greedy...

Do you think vast reforms are needed to save this nation? I truly believe, as a foreign-born citizen of America and traveler that this is one of the most unstable countries in the world. No joke. I've been to poor third-world countries that had happier people.

What will it take to improve the situation here? I think improving the education system will be a very big step, along with restoring discipline in the schools.

I think this country is facing huge problems, not the least of which is a Commander-in-Sheik who thinks he can ignore the laws whenever it suits him.

Improving education might help, but what is really needed is to teach people how to talk about issues without fighting. There is so much polarization, and so much unwillingness to even listen to different viewpoints, that we're rapidly approaching a point where being in the minority means you are powerless to effect legal change. And that's not the way the system was designed.

After taking a look at all your questions you've posted you seem to have a big problem getting along with other people. Your dad is a doctor he should be able to get into some counseling. Doesnt work for people who dont get along well with others like yourself. In this world you have to realize there are some people that arent going to be just like you. Some will not be as well off as you and some will not be as smart you. Some will be better off and smarter than you. A part of growing up and maturing is undertsanding that theres all differents kinds of people. Especially in America try to not judge people. God created all of us. Some make wrong decisons and others do good. Dont worry about others faults unless they ask you for help. HUmble yourself to others and dont be so hard to get along with. Good luck

Complacency is endemic in the USA. You must remember that the bully invariably uses his brain less once he has braun to get his own way. The vast majority run on the steam of the intellectual minority. I always remind those who are so stupid that they do not believe they should educate themselves that this world that we know has seen several civilizations, Greek, Roman etc. The Capitalist civilization is but another dying philosophy. Then where will they be? Only thing is the world will not be so forgiving.

The final question you pose and solution through our schools is fine, but it will not be resolved easily. To fix education the left says pay more money and the right says we pay enough and get a lousy product in return. That debate will rage on with little benefit to education and our nation for some time.

It will be for at least two more years, as long as Bush is in power there will be an assault on our rights and the Constitution. His spending for the war in Iraq is taking money right out of the schools and other important things. We can go a long way by the democrats taking back at least one of the houses in November and providing some checks and balance's to the government..

Why did you choose this country if it is so bad?

Yes, I think America is in a number of crises. We have to stop illegal immigration before we can improve education, however, because the better it gets the more of a draw it is for people to come here illegally and drag it down. We can't keep up.

Yes, I see your point. In fact I think we will one day follow the path of the ancient Roman empire. Here today and gone tomorrow. It can happen. I think it will. Not in my life time. But I don't think the U.S. as it is now, will be here in 500 hrs.

The democrat party is the only one in crisis . Your opinions lead me to question why you became naturalized ; and you do not appear to be very convincing .
