Describe one event that promoted support for the Vietnam War in the United States.

The Truman Doctrine, which dictates that the United States will assist any nation or country fighting communism. The doctrine did not spell out how much or what kind of assistance that will be. We obviously went to war in Vietnam while Cambodia and Laos were limited to financial aid and military equipment.

All three countries fell to communism and then became some of the poorest countries in the world. All three are now reforming into market economies without the U.S. spending a dime in aid.

Ironic isn't it...

The invention of the Cotton Gin, by Eli Whitney. The machine quickly and easily separates the cotton fibers from the seedpods and the sometimes sticky seeds. It uses a combination of a wire screen and small wire hooks to pull the cotton through the screen, while brushes continuously remove the loose cotton lint to prevent jams.
