RE:
Where can I find a script of "Ragtime, the musical".?
I have read the Doctorow book and love it. I know that the show opened on Broadway in 1998 and is still running there, but I am having trouble locating a script. Securing rights is not a problem at this time as I am not planning on producing it, I would just like to have it in my library. All...

Nah there is no fine line between scripted and fake, its just a nicer way of saying its fake. But the godzilla movies were guess what..... SCRIPTED YAY SCRIPTED, and that obviously ain't real. Well in 30 years who knows maybe with advancement in technology Godzilla could be real but probably not. Look when people refer to wrestling as fake, they aren't saying the injuries are fake but just the general way pro wrestling works is fake. There are still fake storylines and fake characters that every indulges in so I don't see the need to try and establish it as "real" anymore. Its not worth the time just let the trolls blast it. You asked if there is a fine line between scripted and fake, but there isn't. Scripted just goes with the OUTCOME of the match and the storyline put around it, which you know of course you know they are scripting a fake ending and a fake storyline. But they aren't scripting the whole match. Because for the most part most matches aren't fully planned or scripted its two wrestlers who go out there improvise a match till they can get it to the ending that was planned. So whats scripted is of course scripted to happen so its not a true real ending its fake. You even said it yourself the injuries aren't scripted and you want to know why the injuries aren't scripted because injuries are real not fake(the ones that aren't "faked and scripted anyway). You basically answered yourself at the end of what you put down on the question.

No, fake and scripted both have many different meanings, and for some reasons they've both ended up in wrestling terms. I could define fake by saying a few things, such as a replica. If there is a $280 WWE title and a $100 WWE title, which is more likely to be real? Yep, so by process of elimination the $100 is not real; fake. Replica's are basically fakes of the originals, but at a much lower price and they aren't designed as well as the original. Now with sports, we'll go into wrestling, if something is fake then you'll get all sorts of problems. 1) They are actually picking eachother up and holding them, but they aren't putting pressure on any slams or holds. 2) They do connect with punches, but they hit with either their wrist (the joint above where emo's cut themselves) or they do not close their fist. 3) Many high flying moves hurt the performer, not the victim. Those moves are more "fake" than scripted, and I'll say why later. Yes there are injuries due to somebody falling awkwardly or tearing a muscle; this could occur even if you do stretch prior to the match. Now although these moves aren't performed to the fullest extent, they are not fake, as I said there is still lifting, falling and a careful procedure involved, as there is with many other sports. No football team doesn't have a coach and goes out there to do whatever they want. No dancer(s) doesn't follow the correct steps to a dance. Now scripted, this is really a very different thing to fake. Fake means a copy, a forged/replicated item. Scripted is direct actions you follow for any means of entertainment or show. This is where it gets a bit tricky because they don't rehearse the same match proceeding the show, they actually just practice, if they do at all and it's usually for the big PPV's, mainly WrestleMania (and it still sucked this year). When WWE, TNA or any other pro-wrestling superstars have a match they will often make heavy breathing sounds, or even clench there jaw whilst bearing their teeth for emotion. No, they're actually talking through their teeth. If WWE were scripted there would be numerous problems: 1) Each and every week both, or more than three, superstars will have to remember the exact match. More botches would occur due to forgetting what's next. 2) There would be stalling to remember what would be next. 3) The actual wrestlers have no say in the match, they are doing what some jabroni, who most likely never wrestled, tells them to do. Now, WWE and TNA stars don't do that, but they do talk to them during the match, and so does the ref. Example, Orton vs Cena. Orton headlocks Cena and bears his teeth and "hisses". He actually said "Escape, irish whip, I toe kick reverse, you clothesline". Cena does so and Orton is down. When he's back up, they might have a grapple lock up where they'll both start talking. Orton might continue saying "Fisherman suplex, try to pick me up, I reverse, scoop slam-" and Cena quickly interjects, "And you knee drop me". After doing so, the ref will check on Cena to see if he's injured. The ref actually wants to know what Cena wants. Cena had to think of something during the knee drop, while it's up to Orton to move his knee out of the way in time. The ref then "yells" at Orton and during the break when he stops yelling he's telling him what Cena said. Now that isn't what you call scripted, that is improvising. WWE fighting is not fake nor scripted. The storylines are scripted, as are the outcomes of the match, they have to follow that desired result, the hatred/relationships are usually fake. Now, what is WWE? The wrestling is improvisation, acting and changing things in the spur of the moment, or to replace a botch. It is also an illusion; an illusion of fighting. Action movies are usually fake with the fights because they completely miss, but it's still an illusion of a fight. WWE fighting is an illusion of pain and suffering, it's not fake or scripted. *I explained why it's not fake, and I explained why it's not scripted. Improv: In a spur of the moment you act out, or you use it to continue dialogue or any other actions. Could occur spontaneously, out of nowhere.
