I have been taking an antibiotic for two days now but there seem to be no improvement. I am just wondering if this is the wrong medicine for my problem, or it just takes some time for it to take effect.
Would appreciate responses from MD or based on similar experience..

It depends on the antibiotic as well as the condition being treated. If you're being treated with one of the old standard spectrum antibiotics like penicillin, then I'd venture to say that your symptoms may begin to relax within a couple of days. However, if you're taking one of the newer, stronger antibiotics, IE; Azithromycin, Cipro or something along those lines, then I'd be very surprised if you DIDN'T feel better within the first 24-48 hours.

Mind you, regardless of the medication, be certain to complete the entire course of pills/syrup. The Z-Pack is one that's really good, however people tend to stop taking the 5 day course of treatment because they feel so much better. Don't make that mistake, take the entire 5 day course of meds. Remember, the medication stays in your system for 10 full days.

Not completing any course of antibiotics could cause you to have a rebound effect in your symptoms and you could very well end up feeling 10 times worse than you did before AND end up taking yet another course of stronger meds to treat the same thing.

Ok so first off it's not the semen that travels to the egg it's the sperm. Semen is what the sperm are in when they come out. The sperm leaves the semen within a few minutes and travels into the womb. Then it travels thru the tubes to where it expects the egg to be. That can take hours or longer depending upon how well the sperm swim and how straight they go. Most sperm are not shaped right and they get lost or swim around in circles or just plain die before they get there. But since there are millions of them this is not usually a problem. Sperm can live up to 5 days, but 2-3 days is more common.

I've had antibiotices for sinus infections and sometimes I've taken the whole course before I felt better. Finish the antibiotics that you were prescribed. If you don't have any improvement, then go back to your doctor. You may not have received the proper antibiotic for that particular infection.

Well, that would depend on why exactly you are taking antibiotics. Sometimes you can get relief immediately, sometimes it takes a few days. I would wait at least 3-4 days, if you still have no relief, contact your doctor for further directions. Hope you feel better soon!

It depends on what kind of infection and the severity of it. I had an ear/throat/sinus infection last summer, and I felt improvements the next day. I felt like myself again after three. If they haven't improved your symptoms yet, I would consult your MD. It may not be an infection, or the antibiotic may not be strong enough.

DIRECT YOUR QUESTION TO THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE THAT PRESCRIBED THEM FOR YOU IN THE FIRST PLACE. YOUR DOCTOR WILL DEFINITELY WANT TO KNOW THEY DON'T SEEM TO BE HELPING AND MAY VERY WELL PRESCRIBE SOMETHING DIFFERENT FOR YOU THAT WILL HELP A WHOLE LOT BETTER. GIVE THEM A CALL SOON. THE IDEA IS TO GET BETTER AS SOON AS YOU CAN.
