I found a spider in my bathtub and captured it...how do I know what kind of spider it is and if it is poisonous or not?

It depends on what it looks like .You can also call your local poison control or hospital they have the recources to tell you if it is or not.Most spiders found in a home are harmless .Butevery now and then you'll find one like a black widow that packs a real punch.

there are only about 6 or 7 poisonous spiders in the Washington area but the most common are the "brown recluse" and a "wolf spider" and they are both fairly good sized and dark brown

I have a spider living at the base of the window in my bathroom (behind the molding). I've watched her grow into a big spider. She doesn't bother me, I don't bother her.

This one is a solid black spider....no red stripe like a black widow...just solid black. Could be poisonous, who knows.

Depending on what state you live in, it could be poisonous, don't touch it with your hands. I would scoop it into a cup and toss it out the door.

look online for spider web sites - also you could check with your local zoo or wildlife center they usually have books that can help you identify it

let it bite you and if you die you know it's poisonous or not if don't die. or you can look spiders on the internet and if it is poisonous or not.

take it to a pest control service, they're generally good about i.d.ing bugs
