For all those people who think NASA is a waste of tax dollars, I wish I could get them to do me one favor. I have always wanted to make a list of things invented/developed by the US space program. Now, take this list and go throughout your home throwing out anything on the list you find in your home. Now, see how your quality of life diminishes. That UV coating on your windows and sunglasses, get rid of them. The scratch resistant coating...same thing. Anything with Velcro. You can no longer watch anything on TV except what you can receive with an antenna/aerial on top of your house. No more satellite radio. etc etc etc. We need to put more funding into NASA and get up to speed. I still want to know where my flying car is? It's the 21st century...where's my flying car? And, by the time today's kids' grandchildren are born, there will be so many people on this planet that we'll need to find somewhere else to put up condos. With current earth population growth rate (which is a net positive rate i.e. more babies are born than people die) in just under 100 years, if all the people on earth were spread out evenly on every available land mass, each person could hold their arms out and touch hands of the poeple next to them, then turn 90 degrees, and do the same. But, it is not an IMMEDIATE problem so no one worries about it.

Most people, who have no real clue what space exploration will eventually mean to the human race, will probably say, "Why spend billions of dollars to send a probe to Mars so a few nerdy scientists can examine a few worthless rocks?"

However, they do not see the bigger picture. What if we find a cure for cancer in one of those rocks? What if we find life living inside one of those rocks? What if we find out what we are all doing here?

I think these are questions that you cannot put a price tag on. We are spending $100 million dollars a day in Iraq....Think about that!!

i do think that we must get ourselves to somewhere else because we just cant take earth for granted just for the reason we are born here .
we must move on. earth probably in a few decades may loose all the natural resources and life here is going to be miserable !
so we need to hurry and i also think that we are behind schedule
we must hurry up to find other planets and spread the cultures and
one personal thing:
i would hate to give an idea to those if we may find on some planet that we are GODS .
because i really believe that we have no gods and any thing devine in this universe or another!!from my deepest thoughts and mind

I do!!!! Except maybe not exactly space travel but more research of space, and more funds for the research. Actually if we spend more money on space travel and research we could permanantly fix our current problems like poverty, starvation, etc. The space program had given us advancements we didnt even know we would get out of it like the pumps for hearts, scratch resistant lenses, and better golf balls just to name a few.

Eventually we will get back to exploring again. But right this moment we have a confidence problem. The darn things have gotten so technical that they are hard to work on and with.
Finally We have a awful leadership problem. There is a lot of infighting going on.

I am very much in support of the space program per se. However, in these economic times, I feel that we should be putting a greater emphasis on protecting ourselves from comet and asteroid impacts. That said, to a lesser degree I am in support of the space travel research that is necessary to enable us to colonize our neighboring planets and moons.

space is the next move for the human race, its the new struggle which will take us the next level of our evolution. besides, we have explored every cm of earths surface, we would need something more interesting to keep us busy.
