Like max said, uninstall it and reinstall it ! It happened to me already. I had tryed to update my drive, that was a no-no ! through the devise manager !
It should work and b recognized !

Do you mean the cd drive itself?... does it show in device manager?... open the case and ensure the data and power cables are fully seated home, these can 'creep' loose due to the metals expanding and contracting due to the temperature changes your PC experiences when working/turned off

Replace the cd rom driver.Could be new malware . Could be problem with the drive.

Go to Control Panel, Add/Remove Hardware. Find your CD player and do the troubleshooting on it. Follow the bells and whistles, it's pretty easy. You could also try deleting it, rebooting your computer and see if it recognizes it.
