It's a very personal decision. Only you know what you can manage. Do you think you could bear to raise a baby with the particular problem that you anticipate? Would it tear your heart out to put a child up for adoption?
In *most* cases, there is no way to know how severe a particular birth defect is. With missing limbs, it is pretty obvious, but you don't know what type of drive this particular child will have to overcome the physical problem. But with Down Syndrome (is that what you meant by "the Downs"?), some babies are severely retarded and have serious health concerns, but others are just moderately affected mentally and can live a normal or almost-normal life.
Assuming you live in a country that allows abortion, there is no one who is in a position to advise you what is in *your* best interest--abortion, adoption, or raising the child. Talk to people you respect and whose opinion you trust...then make the best decision you possibly can!

I know that having a healthy baby crosses every expecting mothers mind, I had 7 children. But the truth is it is always possible to have an afflicted child. I,ve met many children with disabilities and they are very loving and pleasant. They love life and are a true insperation to all of us because of their zeal and determination. They teach us that we can overcome adversity. Just because someone is infirm child or adult doesn,t mean they will never be made whole again. Look up Isa.35:5,6, Rev.21:4, John5:28,29, Isa.33:24. This is a promise to all of us that will come to pass. I hope this helps you.

I think they are more likely to miscarry than a regular baby.
But either way, I wouldn't personally give up a baby with downs or any other defets. These children are given to us for a reason, and they are beautiful people just like the rest of us.
But if you are prejudiced against them, or otherwise don't feel prepared or able to parent a special needs child, then I suppose considering abortion would be sensible. I would still choose putting baby up for adoption better than aborting. But that's me. I'm pro-choice...and pro-life.

No, defects or no defects, as you put it, abortion is still killing. God gave you a gift and you should care for it and love it as such. If you just can't bring yourself to accept what you have been given, try to find a loving home for your child. Ever heard the saying that God never gives you more than he knows you can handle.

Ofcourse not! I was told that my baby was a downs syndrome baby. He was born perfectly fine. How could you kill your baby because there is (or may not be) something wrong with him or her?
Have you ever heard of unconditional love? That is the love a parent has for a child! That means no matter what! You love YOUR KID unconditionally.

personal decission.
i see all kinds of sides to this question.
i have a brother who is m.r./m.h. and would not trade him for the world. i have a friend who doesn't have a right arm. i wouldn't trade her , either.
on the one hand, we are never given anything we can't handle ( on the religous side). on the other hand, if there is an option, why not use it? if you think you aren't strong enough , then you aren't; but maybe you could surprise yourself at how strong you truely are. you will never know if you don't try, but to some women, giving up is not an option.

What is wrong with you? I really think you should stop wasting our time with these lameass questions. If this is how you feel (and regarding your broken baby post) you first need to grow up and secondly never have children. I am hoping you are just immature and not ignorant.

No. You can always get prosthetic limbs. Either that or they can be stuck in a wheelchair their whole life.

I wouldn't because I would be rejecting him for something that he does not have control over, sometimes those babies change your life for good and fill your life with so much love.
