There's nothing wrong with finding that they were amazing leaders and thinkers. They were - who else could have led such large groups without charisma, power, brains, and personality? (Certainly not George Bush...) The problem lies in striving to be like them, rather than liking them. Admiring some of their similiar qualities isn't wrong; what's wrong is when you take their diabolical, radical, unchecked ideas to heart and begin to embody those qualities.
Admire their leadership and intelligence, their charisma and charm, their ability to influence large groups of people, but don't be quick to defend the actions they made that caused death, pain, and war to so many people. make sense? I hope so.

They were great men who did great things for great ideals (in their mind) but they lost. The victorious write the history. I can imagine that had Hitler won we would be hailing him as the Greatest most revolutionary leader to unite the human race at a necessary cost (coz the education would have thought us so). I agree with you bout Napolean-an absolute genius. However, the moral considerations have to be taken into account for Hitler. he was an incredible person and magnificent leader but then there's the other side of it. I'd like to take up some friendly debate on this if you'd care to follow me up on this answer. By the way, i think demonizing Hitler is wrong for the reason that it makes him apparently "evil". It then looks as if he was a singular event in history that couldn't happen again. We all have Hitler and Gandhi inside us.

I find them interesting especially Hitler. However anybody that kills a group of people just because they can is a monster. Are the monsters that killed Americans on 9/11 extremely great men? Same thing just a different era. I think you just like to start stuff. lol

i suppose nothing is wrong with respecting their intelligence or just recognizing and accepting the things that they've done but i may draw the line there. i wouldn't go as far as to say that i admire them and their so called accomplishments if you wanna call it that. i agree both had leadership qualities, etc and that's okay to admire but there are other leaders out there past and present who haven't done horrific things that you could focus your attention on or strive to be like. i have also gone to see napoleons tomb and dachau concentration camp in germany and i was fascinated by the history of it all but not necessarily by the individual themselves. i think hitler was a master manipulator and a pansy and seeing with my own eyes what he had done made me really see what a little, little man he was. isn't it important to you to respect and pay homage to someone who isn't known for being a monster???

I think it's ok to like them. It's a very interesting part of history. But I also think you need to look at the situation and see the negative side of what they did and the pain they caused. Otherwise it will be difficult for you to understand where you're friends are coming from.

I think you are doing this for attention. It draws attention to you. You figure negative attention is better than being ignored. common sense tells you that was one of the worse people in modern history. Was everything he did bad?
No, but it is hugely outweighed by the bad he did.

You know what Hitler stood for, right? Well, then you should know why people bad mouth them and call you a freak.

If there is anything wrong with liking anyone, it would be those people. They caused a great deal of suffering. Of course, you are entitled to like who you will.

I guess there is nothing wrong with having a certain level of respect for their accomplishments.. .You don't want to bake all the Jews though, do ya?

Not neccesarily. It just depends on if you share their same views. What they did was incredible I guess, just wrong to millionth degree.
