wow miss fortune, I too collect skeletons and skulls. when i find dead animals in the woods near my house, i put them in a tree for the insects to remove all (ok, most) soft tissue, then collect the bones and wire them together like a science class dispaly.

i don't regard this as morbid or ghoulish. like the Buddhists, i see bones and skulls as reminders that our material selves are transient. I am not a body that has a soul, I am a soul that temporarily has a body.

my other collection is slide rules. The best slide rules are made from bamboo, as this type of wood does not much expand or contract with changes in temperature, not is it prone to warp from humidity. some things you can do with a slide rule much more easily than with a calculator.

I don't know if you'd call it a collection yet, but I have 4 accordians.

I collect a regular paycheck, but I guess there is nothing unusual in that. Although for some that would be unusual indeed.

I collect Raggedy Ann and Andys. I love them and I can count on my husband to search out at least one old piggy bank or jack-in-the-box every year. It is so bad that my parents brought me back a set from Mexico. They are funny.

Mothballs. It takes a delicate touch, deft precision and an amazingly small scapel. Occassionally, I receive hate mail from Peta and other animal rights organizations. I have gotten some testy calls from them.

I collect the toys my kids play with and put them back in the toy box. It's a limitless hobby.
