My best friend and I have been friends for 32 years this summer. We definitely stay in touch (live only a few minutes from each other). We have both been married (she is again and I will be again sometime next year) and she has a very busy work schedule, both raised 2 kids (her youngest is 16; mine are grown and my fiance has 3 teens so I am sort of starting over there). We have always stayed in touch by phone, mail, e-mail, IM, etc. Yes, we both have busy lives, but when it is a friend, especially a best friend, you make time for them. It may not be as often as when you were kids, but you still stay in touch.

The oldest friend I have is from my freshman year of high school...which was about 7 1/2 years ago. It's definately not the same as it use to be, she has a kid and I'm married, expecting my first child. We probably talk about once a week, see each other maybe once a month. Life changes, that's for sure. But if you really want your friendship to stay the same, you have to be patient and understand that you guys aren't young and free anymore. You have responsibilites and work. Just make sure you talk at least once a month, or write each other.

I wish I did. My best friend from childhood lives in another city, but I don't have her number or anything. When she moved, I lost touch, but every now and agian she would come to my house and ring the door bell just to say hello. Then a few months later, she'd do it agian. I then moved out of state, and I guess the whole 2 yrs I was gone, she never came by. But oddly enough, about 3 months after coming back, she came to the door. The doorbell rang and there she was. My mother answered the door and told her that I still lived out in California. I have no idea why she did that!!! It would have been cool to say hello agian and see how her kids were and such. Buuuut I am going to guess that she won't be coming back anymore since she thinks I still live in Cali. Oh well :(

I'm still friends with this lady who was in my first grade class back in 1973. We do live in the same town, however that wasn't always the case. She moved away when we got in high-school, and we did lose contact with each other until she moved back home. I try to atleast call her once a week. She's married now, but I'm still single. She doesn't have kids and possibly can't have any and I have one. Even with this difference, we are still close friends, maybe not as close as we could be. To really stay close to someone you have to really commit to your friendship and keep in contact with that person , either by phone, letter, or e-mail. Even if you don't hear from that person, keep contacting them atleast once a week. If not, time will pass you by and come in between you!

yes i still talk to 2 of my best friends from when i was young. I just had one come out to Texas where I'm living at now all the way from California where i use to live. I talk to them on the phone almost every week, and we email each other, one of them is not married because he's not found that special person, and the other one found a great man that love her so much, And I've been married for going on 4 years and have one son 19 months old. its harder to live in another state but we make it work i love them there not my friends there my family. and i can still see us talking for years to come.

I still keep in touch with my best friend from first grade. We chat online, stay connected with myspace.com, talk on the phone and see each other whenever life isn't so busy.
