Oh mate, my heart squeezed when I read your question.
Firstly, well done with the smoking. It shows you have strength of character that you're going to need to regain your wardrobe. I know you're down now, but don't let this set you back. It's great that you're walking, but I think that whilst your metabolism is sulking you need a little more to kick-start it. You could try upping the pace by jogging some of your walking route, or try cycling or swimming. Substitute your drinks for hot or cold water with a slice of lemon and see if you can't try a wheat and dairy free diet for a couple of weeks. I lost over a stone in less than a month doing this. Eating a lot of fresh fruit and veg lifted me out of my depression too.
I hope things get better for you soon x

Firstly, can I say congratulations on giving up the smokes. You need to find something alternative & healthy to do with your fingers as this is where food will become your new comfort.

Losing weight quickly depends on how much weight you need to lose. If you are slightly overweight it would take longer than if you were very overweight.

Try the kellogs diet, it is supposed to work. A bowl of ceral inthe morning, one for lunch & a decent tea.

In between you can have fruit & drink as much water as possible. Water does take away the hunger so everytime you feel hungry, have a glass of water.

Walk everywhere, even if it going to take 10 minutes longer, try swimming or even skipping. Skipping is the best form of cardio workout that you can do & you can do it in your own home whenever you want. A skipping rope is only around £2 so it won't break the bank.

I wish you every success, you deserve it & don't be too hard on yourself, you have given up one horrible vice, so try one thing at a time & don't push yourself too far.

Good luck

A stone is 14 pounds (for the US contingent).

Congratulations on giving up smoking.
I gained a lot of weight after stopping smoking, but in my case this was a good thing as it showed that I had Hashimoto's syndrome. You might find it worthwhile to have a blood test just to rule any thyroid problem out.

As suggested, Weight Watchers have a good approach and to lose two stone safely and steadily should take you about three or four months. Best of luck.

The first stone will come off very quickly because you'll lose mainly fluids anyway, don't rush things because the weight will soon pile back on. Cut out things like bread and other starchy foods, do the easy things like drinking diet soda or water, have one spoonful or sugar instead of two (or use sweeteners.)

Do you like dancing or walking? I go for a 30 minute walk and dance like a mad thing (when no one is watching) for another 30 minutes every day and it helps a lot.

Have one day off every week and eat what you want, I promise this helps.

Don't get depressed, we all feel like that in the summer - all those skinny people in their mini skirts and tiny little t-shirs make you feel twice as big as you really are.

the best thing you can possbly do is drink plenty of water. three years ago, I was a size 20, and hated it. I tried every diet, every pill, every exercise under the sun. I also bought all of the books and still, nothing. I might of lost a few pounds here and there, but then, I got so frustrated with it, I almost gave up trying. But thankfully, a very good freind of mine told me to drink at least eight glasses of water a day, and at first it was a bit grim, but please believe me, within two, three weeks, the weight started falling off. Well that was three years ago, and today I'm a very happy size 12. Providing you eat sensibly, no food is a sin. Just eat your food slowly, so that you actually, taste the food, and enjoy. I wish you all the luck in the world, keep at it and dont give up.

I hate to diet so I exercise.
Start off with cardio exercise about 20 mins three times per week. Get a heart rate monitor and exercise e in your fat burning zone. Don't go daft!

Below is an example of the Karvonen formula for a 23 year old person with a resting heart rate of 65 beats per minute (*to get your resting heart rate, take your pulse for one full minute.):

220 - 23 (age) = 197
197 - 65 (resting heart rate) = 132
132 * 65% (low end of heart rate) OR 85% (high end) = 85.8 OR 112.2
85.8 + 65 (resting heart rate) = 150
112.2 + 65 (rhr) = 177
The target heart rate zone for this person would be 150 to 177

Working to this pace is not difficult.

Then increase your time per session to 30 then 45 then 60 mins
three times per week.

when feeling fitter increase the heart rate but listen to your body.
sometimes you may have loads of energy...other times no ooopmh at all.

I see you say you want quick weight loss....do this for one month you'll be well on your way to getting a stone off

All the best x

There are three main ways to lose weight quickly.

1) Use only water as liquid and eliminate all other liquid drinks from your diet. You must drink as much water as possible every day. You must drink about half of your weight. If you have weight of 200 pounds then you must drink about 100 oz of water.

2) The interval between the eating is very important. If you eat once, then you must eat next after 4 hours. You must take breakfast regularly. In the night eat your food three hours before going to bed.

3) Walking is very good. You must walk as much as you can. Walk everywhere you can. Use of elevators and escalators must be reduced and instead of these you must climb stairs more often.

These are some of the fastest ways to lose weight. By just following the simple steps, you can lose your weight very quickly. You must consult your doctor if want to change your diet or exercise routine.

How to lose weight quick is a question that just about everyone asks at one time or another in their lives. Whether it's for a summer on the beach or for your 10 year High School reunion, sometimes we just need to lose weight fast. Check out the rest of this article to find out how to lose weight quick.

Tip 1

Get some sleep. Although sometimes sleeping does feel like the ultimate in relaxation in lethargy, your body needs a certain amount of sleep every 24 hour cycle to continue working efficiently. Staying up longer may seem like a good way how to lose weight quick, but actually the opposite is true - you burn calories while you sleep too, and it's much higher than you think - an average sized person can expect to burn 50+ calories per hour while sleeping!

Tip 2

Understand that your body has limits - it's easy to say "How to lose weight quick? I know! I'm going running for 2 hours every morning starting tomorrow!" While the intention is good, the fact of the matter is that unless your body is accustomed to a certain amount of exercise, if you go at it to hard right at the start, you're just going to hurt yourself - and guess what? If you sprain your ankle or pop a ligament, you practically guarantee you won't be losing that 10lbs quickly, because you won't be exercising at all for the next few weeks!

Tip 3

Understand the balance. When people ask how to lose weight quick, what they are really saying is that they want to lose FAT. You see, muscle weighs far more than fat, and is the first thing the body starts to break down when you starve yourself for some fad diet, so if you try to lose weight without exercise, your body is just eating it's own muscles. Gross huh? Not only that, but it makes it far harder for you to lose weight in future, as there is less muscle mass left to burn calories with.

Tip 4

Out-think your body when it comes to your diet. If you can break your bad eating habits and get into the habit of some gentle exercise, you'll find out how to lose weight quick-you can seriously drop a huge amount of body fat and weight in a real short space of time. Try drinking water instead of sodas for example, and replace some meals with just a salad. Next time you are hungry between meals, snack on fruit, not chocolate. Small changes like this can make huge differences for you next time you step on the scales, but only if you can train your brain to think before you eat.
